Ipswich is located in a beautiful area of East Anglia – "Constable Country" – in fact, the setting of Constable's most famous painting, "The Haywain", is only a few miles down the A12 road. During its heyday Ipswich was a major trading port, being located on the estuary of the Orwell River on the East Coast.
